Unifor is Canada's largest private sector trade union representing 315,000 Canadians in 20 major economic sectors. Unifor represents over 10,000 journalists and media workers in broadcasting, print and online news, graphical printing, and film production.
Unifor is Canada's largest media union. In 2015 the Unifor Media Council launched the #journalismis campaign with the participation of numerous news companies and other media groups. Our Media Action Plan (mediaactionplan.ca) is the face of our active leadership in public policy for journalism and Canadian media content.

Randy Kitt is the Director of Media for Unifor. He has been a National Representative since 2016 and was previously the President of Local 79m and the first Unifor Media Council Chair.
JULIE KOTSIS
Media Council Chairperson
Julie is Chairperson of the Windsor Star unit, where she works as a full-time journalist. She served two terms as 1st Vice-President, two terms as a Trustee and was the WSIB rep for 10 years for Local 240. Julie has bargained four collective agreements, serving as lead bargainer in the last two rounds of bargaining for the Joint Council of Unions at the Star, which included members at the now shuttered Starway printing plant. She has been a Unifor Discussion Leader since 2008. Julie also served for a year as Secretary-Treasurer of Unifor’s Media Council before stepping into the role of Chairperson.

Tracy is the President of Local 79m and Chairperson of the Unifor Bell Media Caucus. She has worked at Bell Media Toronto since 1999.

Tanya has been in media for more than 17 years at Rogers Media. She has been Chair of the Media Action Plan for five years, President of her Local 830M for two years and is a dedicated advocate for media in Canada
